Thomas Gunn Music

A talented folk musician named Thomas Gunn contacted Frame25 and asked for a site where he could run a small mailling list and post sound samples and updates about his activities. We created a content-management-system site for him which gives him complete control of the wording on every page, the links he posts, the photos, gigs, schedule, and more. It was tailored for his needs as a musician, and has a darker color scheme to give it more weight and style.

It has an email newsletter built in, with which he can send out concert notices, and a small photo gallery to which he can add at any time:

We authored a special Flash audio player which resides along the right side on every page, and provides audio samples from his album. Each track can be played individually, animated buttons show which track is playing without being annoying, and a "Play All" button allows all to be played in succession. A progress bar shows loading/playing progress, and the Volume slider was custom-written as well. Feel free to try it out with this local version (Flash plugin required):

This site is a "dynamic" site, in that most of the pages are generated dynamically based on information from the database, and only on rare occasions is hand-coding required or manual page changes. Dynamic sites generally have larger start-up costs but lower maintenance costs and are ideal for sites where information will need to be regularly updated or added.
